3D artwork photography day
Helpmann Academy is excited to announce a new initiative supporting South Australia’s emerging visual artists to build a professional portfolio.
Open to visual arts graduates from Helpmann Academy’s partners (Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA/Flinders University) and University of South Australia), this program has been established to provide graduate visual artists with an opportunity to have their works professionally photographed for a variety of purposes: websites, social media, exhibition catalogues, submissions for residencies and awards etc.
Properly documenting work is a vital part of establishing a visual arts career, but when an artist is focused on the creation of the work, this important aspect can sometimes be overlooked.
Professional photographer Sofia Calado will shoot your works and provide a selection of high-quality images for your portfolio.
WHEN AND WHERE
The program will take place over two days at the Adelaide College of the Arts photography studio. You can book a 1-hour session to have your work photographed – Day 1 will be dedicated to photographing 2D works (canvas and paper-based works ie. flat), and Day 2 dedicated to 3D works (sculptural works, ceramics, glass, jewellery etc).
Day 1 – 2D works: Wednesday 10 October, 8:45am – 5:30pm
Day 2 – 3D works: Thursday 11 October, 8:45am – 5:30pm
Following the photography sessions, you’ll be provided with five hero images and five detail shots.
From these, you’ll be able to select two images to be edited. The cost of this will be covered by Helpmann.
If you’d like additional images edited, you’ll be able to arrange this directly with Sofia at your own expense.
It’s a requirement that when using the images obtained through this program, you agree to properly credit Sofia Calado.
BOOK YOUR SESSION
You are invited to bring up to 5 artworks to be photographed within your allocated hour. You’ll be required to provide the dimensions of the works when you book your session. This will enable us to prepare for your photo shoot in advance.
To ensure as many artists as possible can participate, the schedule will be strictly adhered to. Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your allocated session. Late arrivals will result in a shorter photoshoot to ensure the next shoot is able to start on time.
A fee of $20 will be charged for each artist, strictly 1 session per artist.
The following sessions are available:
8:45am – 9:45am
9:45am – 10:45am
10:45am – 11:45am
11:45am – 12:45pm
1:30pm – 2:30pm
2:30pm – 3:30pm
