Masterclasses with Niv Marinberg (Israel)

Presented in partnership with Adelaide College of the Arts

Following a successful series of masterclasses in 2017, international dancer and choreographer Niv Marinberg is returning to Adelaide to again offer masterclasses with Adelaide College of the Arts dance students and graduates, and local independent dancers. And for the first time, visual artists and actors are also invited to participate in these exciting masterclasses.

Niv’s exceptional career to date includes roles such as rehearsal director for the Maslool Professional Dance Program, Assistant Choreographer with the Royal Danish Ballet, The Chilean National Ballet, Israeli Opera House, and Kibbutz Dance Company, assisting choreographers such Michael Getman, Idan Sharabi, Roy Assaf, Noa Shadur and many others. His current role is Rehearsal Director and Assistant Choreographer with L-E-V Dance Company.

Drawing on his extensive skills and experience, and his M.A studies at Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, Niv’s masterclass will encompass topics such as intuition of the dancer, in relation to rhythm and melody within music, dance technique, and improvisation.

Expanding on these topics, Niv will also be opening some of the masterclasses up for visual artists and actors to participate. Allowing for cross-disciplinary collaboration, learning, and inspiration. Artists will have the opportunity to engage in the masterclass activity, allowing all participants to explore their creative processes, utilising improvisation and collaboration.

Niv will guide participants through a number of exercises that will provide the opportunity for all artists to learn different approaches to their work, expose them to inspiration not normally found within their own practice, and discover new ways to develop a work.

Visual artists interested in attending, are asked to bring essential materials they will use to create a work.

The masterclasses are free for artists eligible for Helpmann support, and $10 per class for other artists (or 5 classes for $40).

Bookings are essential.
