2018 Elevate Mentorships Round 2

The Helpmann Academy is delighted to announce that six emerging South Australian artists have been awarded mentorships through the Helpmann Academy Elevate Mentorship Program.

The Elevate Mentorship program seeks to pair emerging creatives with industry leaders to assist in the development of their professional practice at a point of transition and exploration – with multiword winning photographer and director Alex Frayne and acclaimed feature film writer Matthew Cormack (Closer Productions) joining the mentors for 2018.

The full list of mentorships that have been funded are as follows:

Abbey Rawson – the emerging visual artist, aspiring writer and illustrator, and Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA) graduate will be mentored by South Australian illustrator and author Sally Heinrich abut the ins and outs of creating and pitching a children’s story.

Evangeline Leonard – the emerging actor and aspiring director and playwright, and Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA) graduate will be mentored by playwright, editor, writer and theatre critic Ben Brooker in effectively telling the stories she wants in an engaging way. 

Nadia Caon – the emerging printmaker and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by printmaker Dianne Longley in her AGAVE PRINT STUDIO in new forms of printmaking and tools in how to set up her own sustainable studio.

Sam Gold – the ceramicist and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by contemporary ceramicist Kristen Coelho to strengthen her technical abilities and learn how to turn her practice into a successful business.

Tamara Hardman – the emerging filmmaker and Flinders University graduate will be mentored by acclaimed film writer Matthew Cormack (Closer Productions) to develop her skills in scriptwriting with the aim of writing and directing her second short film.

Taylor Parham – the emerging photographer and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by photographer and director Alex Frayne in the business aspect being his art and develop his artistic voice in new ways.
