2019 ELEVATE MENTORSHIPS ROUND 1

The Helpmann Academy has awarded over $22,000 to 11 emerging artists from a range of creative disciplines through its Elevate Mentorship program.
The Elevate Mentorship program seeks to pair emerging creatives with industry leaders to assist in the development of their professional practice at a point of transition and exploration – with Production Manager Renier Jansen van Vuuren (Opera House, Alfread) and award-winning photographer Gee Greenslade joining the mentors for 2019.
The full list of mentorships that have been funded are:
Felicity Boyd and Zoe Gay – the emerging dancer, choreographer and Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA) / Flinders University graduates will be mentored by choreographers Larissa McGowan and Lina Limosani (L2 Creatives) with the aim in gaining insight into the logistics of running a freelance artistic business.
Sebastian Phlox – the emerging composer and University of Adelaide graduate will be mentored by pianist and composer Ashley Hribar in the hopes of creating a new repertoire for extended-range pianos.
Toby Brandenburg – the emerging musician, composer and University of Adelaide graduate will be mentored by electronic musician Markus Popp to help expand his knowledge in production processes and the business side of the music industry.
Bianca Hoffrichter – the emerging photographer, installation artist and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by award winning photographer Gee Greenslade with the aim to explore cross-breeding technology with photography in a contemporary space.
eDuard Helmbold – the emerging sculptor, performance artist and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by production manager Renier Jansen van Vuuren to hone his skills in project management and production skills.
Kate Bohunnis – the emerging printmaker, installation artist and Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA) / Flinders University graduate will be mentored by craftsmen Martin Murray and Jason Balmer in metal fabrication and mould making.
Rebecca McEwan – the emerging sculptor, installation artist and Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA) / Flinders University graduate will be mentored by visual artist Roy Ananda in expanding her practice into installation works.
Steven Cybulka – the emerging sculptor, installation artist and University of South Australia will be mentored by sculptor and public artist Craige Andrae to extend his skills in the creation of public art, gallery practice and project management.
Abby Hampton – the emerging actor and Flinders University graduate will be mentored by playwright Dr Sarah Peters, with the aim of developing of an original verbatim play.
Ellen Graham – the emerging actor and Adelaide College of the Arts (TAFE SA) graduate will be mentored by performer and clown Hew Parham to help extend her skills in devising, clowning and whimsy.
