2020 Elevate Mentorships Round 2

The Helpmann Academy has awarded over $15,000 to seven emerging creatives from a range of creative disciplines to undertake mentorships through the Elevate Mentorship program.

The Elevate Mentorship program is designed to provide emerging creatives with access to industry leaders – helping to expand their networks, creative development and business acumen through a one-on-one program designed to suit their specific needs.

The full list of mentorships that have been funded are:

Josh Belperio – the emerging composer, theatre-maker and University of Adelaide graduate will be mentored by Broadway bookwriter, composer and lyricist Matthew Lee Robinson with the aim to workshop his musical The Bubonicles.

Robbie Greenwell – the emerging theatre and filmmaker and Flinders University graduate will be mentored by novelist and screenwriter John Collee to hone his skills as an emerging filmmaker and produce a structured script for his short film.

Rita Kellaway – the emerging glass artist and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by internationally renowned glass artist Jessica Loughlin with the aim to advance her skills, set up a studio space and a develop a new body of work.

Caleb Lavery-Brook – the emerging classical musician and University of Adelaide graduate will be mentored by classical guitarist Slava Grigoryan with the aim to develop and refine his skills and produce a recital program to be performed in 2021.

Anna Revesz – the emerging photographer and Flinders University graduate will be mentored by visual artist Hossein Valamanesh with the aim to expand her practice into sculptural/installation works alongside her photography.

Isabel Vanhakartano – the emerging performer and Flinders University graduate will be mentored by renowned playwriter and director Jane Bodie online, with the aim to develop and write a refined full-length play to be entered into playwriting competitions around Australia.

Hannah Vorrath-Pajak – the emerging ceramicist and University of South Australia graduate will be mentored by established ceramicist Susan Frost to expand her repertoire from stoneware clays to porcelain.
