Five emerging creatives from a range of creative disciplines will undertake career expanding mentorships through Helpmann Academy’s Elevate Mentorship program.

The Elevate Mentorship program matches graduates with established professionals to undertake specifically designed mentorship programs. The program aims to enable career development through further learning, development of skills, advice, and networking at a time of transition.

The full list of mentorships that have been funded are:

Aarod Vawser – the emerging playwright/theatre maker and Flinders University Honours graduate will be mentored by revered performer and writer, Elena Carapetis, who will provide guidance in refining the script of his existing play We Need To Talk About Julia.

Brittany Gallasch – the emerging actor and Flinders University graduate will be mentored by Motion Capture performer Paul William Mawhinney with the aim to expand her technical skills in the relatively new field.

Jonathan Kim – the emerging visual artist and University of South Australia Honours graduate will be mentored by curator Con Gerakaris who will assist Jonathan in strengthening his technical abilities in the field of curating and work towards a stronger curated exhibition in October 2022 for Nexus Arts.

Lucy Stoddart – the emerging opera singer and University of Adelaide graduate will be mentored by Dr Margaret Schindler to hone her singing abilities and prepare her for the next stage of her career.

Philippa McAuliffe – the emerging harpist and University of Adelaide graduate will be mentored by Historically Informed Performance (HIP) specialist and classical harpist Hannah Lane (the leading Australian exponent of the Baroque harp) in order to evolve and specialise her technical abilities and open up new professional opportunities.

The Elevate Mentorship Program is supported by a generous group of donors. If you would like to support an emerging artist to undertake a mentorship, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
