215 Magill Studios Residency

18 February 2022

The Helpmann Academy is pleased to announce the recipient of the 215 Magill Studios Residency in 2022.

Flinders University graduate Ellis Moseley was awarded a 12-month residency at the Opening Night of the 2022 Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition on Thursday 17 February 2022.

Located within 5kms of the CBD, 215 Magill Studios is an artistic hub, that boasts skilled makers from a number of mediums, including ceramics, jewellery and furniture design. The emerging ceramicist will undertake the residency from February – December 2022 giving him access to a growing community of creative practitioners and artists, as well as the room to develop his own skill set.

Ellis says that he is looking forward to connecting with the wide range of skilled studio tenants.

“I am particularly interested in expanding my knowledge of ceramic techniques and object construction. Through relationships with the resident expert object makers and ceramic artists, I hope to continue developing approaches that will test the boundaries of both ceramic material and my practice.”

He adds, “Whilst I am at 215 Magill, I will develop a body work for exhibition in 2022. Above that, I hope to finish my residency with strong friendships and new technical skills that will allow me to expand my practice into areas that would not be possible without this opportunity.”
