215 Magill Studios Residency

Helpmann Academy’s new 215 Magill Studios Residency will provide up to two emerging South Australian artists with a 6-month studio residency at 215 Magill Studios, suitable for artists working across a wide range of mediums.

The selected artist/s will be awarded a rent-free studio space, providing them the critical time, space, and freedom to both create new work, and develop their career.

Located within 5kms of the CBD, 215 Magill Studios is a newly developed artistic hub, with multiple studios and common facilities. Each studio space is generously sized at approximately 3.5 x 3.5 metres, and depending on the selected artists practice, could be occupied by one or two artists. Additional spaces may also be utilised, including a workshop area equipped with workbenches and basic machinery available by negotiation.

Building security is in place, with 24hrs access, and WIFI is available.

The dedicated studio space at 215 Magill Rd, Maylands, represents an opportunity for an artist to freely create and develop new work; providing a productive environment to expand their practice by experimenting with new materials and techniques, or having the space to work on larger scale pieces.

The residency will run from July – December 2020 and is open to visual artists, up to five years following their final year of study from the Helpmann Academy’s partner institutions. Artists can apply as a pair but will need to submit separate applications. Both artists must meet the eligibility criteria.
